Practical guide

Getting to the airport with a lot of luggage

The number of passengers does not determine the vehicle needed — the luggage volume does. A family of four with four large cases and a pushchair has nothing in common with four business travellers carrying one cabin bag each.

Count the bags, not just the people

This is the most common mistake when booking a transfer. A vehicle rated for a given number of passengers does not necessarily have the matching boot space if everyone travels with a hold case and a cabin bag.

In your request, state separately the number of hold cases, the number of cabin bags and anything bulky. Those three figures determine the vehicle offered.

Items to flag every time

  • Pushchair — folded or not, it takes up the equivalent of a medium case.
  • Child car seat — whether it is yours and travelling with you, or needs to be provided.
  • Sports equipment — skis, snowboard, golf clubs, dismantled bicycle: length and quantity.
  • Musical instrument — hard cases do not stack like a soft holdall.
  • Professional equipment — flight cases, stands, samples, trade-fair material.
  • Mobility aid — wheelchair, walking frame: flag it for the vehicle and for assistance.

Why this matters more than the ticket price

With a lot of luggage, public transport stops being a question of cost and becomes a question of feasibility: staircases, connections, barriers, distant platforms. Every change multiplies the handling and the risk of missing a connection.

A direct transfer reduces that to two operations: load at departure, unload in front of the terminal.

Check your airline’s rules too

The vehicle is only part of the equation. Weight and size limits, and the need to declare special equipment in advance, are your airline’s business. Check directly with them, especially on a low-cost carrier.

Say so in your request The request form has separate fields for luggage counts and for special requirements. The more precise the information, the more accurate the quote.
